New Programs!

Summer Golf Program!
The Watsonville P.A.L. Golf Program is working in partnership with the Santa Cruz County Junior Golf Association (SCCJGA) and Hook a Kid on Golf to bring each PAL Golf participant a wonderful insight into the world of golf. The Watsonville PAL Program offers a Golf Program for youth designed to provide long and short term goal projections. 4th Annual Golf Tournament
Join us for the 4th Annual Golf Tournament at Pajaro Valley Golf Course on Saturday, May 19. Check-in time is at 12:00 p.m.! There will be lots of prizes and a post-tourney banquet at P.V.G.C. Please call Chris Seymour at 831-763-4146 or Steve Nakamoto at 831-818-9179 if you have any questions.

Mentoring Program
Watsonville PAL is now offering a Mentoring program for youth ages 11-14 years old. The Mentoring program will provide middle school youth (mentees) with peer-to-peer mentoring. Each youth will be matched to a local high school student. Mentees will complete a monthly meeting, a monthly community service project and also participate in various PAL activities. Basketball
Watsonville PAL will be offering a Basketball Program for youth ages 11 to 17 years old. The program will be held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. All youth enrolled build there basketball skills, interact with youth from Watsonville and also get to participate in a scrimmage with other PAL chapters. The program will start Saturday, April 7th and run for 8-weeks. (No program on Saturday, April 21st). For more information please email watsonvillepal@calpal.org or call PAL at 763-4146.

Aikido
Taught by trained instructors this program meets three times a week that the Watsonville PAL Gym. Aikido is a blend of using the motion of the attacker and redirecting the force of the attacker rather than opposing it had-on. This martial art does not take a lot of strength to master but it does take dedication to the art and focus on the m at. Come join the program! Aikido meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 7:15pm to 8:45pm @ the PAL Gym. Please call PAL at 763-4146 if you have any questions.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (Submission Grappling)
A grappling art made famous by the Gracie Family of Rio de Janiero, Brazil. It incorporates takedowns as are seen in competitive wrestling as well as submission holds that are more commonly seen in the arts of Judo and traditional Japanese Jiu Jitsu. Students will learn to use their body weight, balance and leverage to overcome larger opponents and defend themselves. While traditional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu practitioners use a Gi for practice and competition, students of the PAL Jiu Jitsu program will train in shorts and tee shirts.
